Their idea was implanted when the corner stone of the old Far East Rand Hospital was laid by Jan Hofmeyer the then Administrator of Transvaal (now Gauteng) on the 4th June 1927.The doors of the hospital were opened for the first time on the 21st May 1928 and the official opening of the hospital with 62 beds took place on the 2nd June 1928.
