Dundee is the least rural of all rural settings. It is in fact a beautiful little town. It is blessed by being so diverse: aesthetically rustic and surrounded by magnificent hills that offer breathtaking scenery and yet it is a cosy town with all the necessary amenities. 

The town offers the following: most of the commercial banks, nearly all the chain stores and fashion houses in easily accessible shopping malls. A mosque, temples and churches cater for the religious needs.

There are various forms of recreation to cater for almost every need. Dundee is steeped in tradition and lies on the famous Battlefields Route, and coupled with this is the Talana Museum, which attracts thousands of international tourists annually. There are numerous hiking trails and horse riding facilities. The rivers and dams offer excellent fishing. The other available facilities include public swimming pools, golf course, squash and tennis courts and good restaurants.

Dundee is centrally situated: 400 km. from Johannesburg, 325 km. from Durban, and 225 km. from Pietermaritzburg It is also only half an hours drive from neighbouring towns like Ladysmith and Newcastle.
