South African Institute of Health Care Managers (SAIHCM)

The South African Institute of Health Care Managers is an association incorporated under Section 21 of the Companies Act. It was established in 2004 to provide a professional association for health care managers working in either the public and the private health sectors.

The Institute promotes the important role that health care managers play in the health care environment from a strategic perspective, providing input in policy and decision-making activities that affect health care delivery at all levels

The structure of the Institute is based on best practices, as identified in other international models, but has been adapted to meet South Africa's specific needs in this field.

SAIHCM believes that appropriate training in health care management enhances the status and qualifications of Health Care Managers within the framework of the SA Qualification Framework.

Vision

The SAIHCM strives to become the most dominant institute in the health care industry by promoting high standards of professional health care management in both the public and private health sector in South Africa.

Mission

The SAIHCM mission is to provide superior, value-added services and products tailored to meeting the needs of managers, as well as enhancing the image of the industry through development, training, education and research.
