South African Medico Legal Society (SAMLS)

The main object of the society is: "To advance the inter-relationships between Medicine and Law as a Medico-Legal Science".

The main business of the Society includes arrangements and organisation of activities involved in correspondence, research, delivery of papers, debate and education within the medical and legal fraternities, so as to promote excellence in medico legal practice.

Our membership includes medical and legal practitioners as well as academics with a special interest and experience in the inter-relationship between Medicine and Law.

The Society is an independent organisation not for profit, funded by membership contributions, donations and funds generated through seminars.

The Society does not represent or promote the business interests of individual members or groups of members, but serves as an open academic platform to promote the above objectives, as well as to provide a network platform through which members, other relevant organisations and the public can interact.

To the extent that members of the Society have relevant expertise in specific circumstances, the Society has in the past acted to promote the rights and interests of society at large flowing from the Constitution of South Africa and the Society intends to do so in the future.
