IRFSA Shelter for Battered and Abused Women

IRFSA is a small registered Non Profit Company that manages the Ihâta Shelter, a shelter for underprivileged abused women with young children on the Cape Flats area of Heideveld.  IRFSA receives NO government or corporate funding and graciously survives on public donations, selling organically grown herbs & vegetables and from the sale of second-hand items from their community shop.  To date, IRFSA successfully assisted, clothed, counselled, empowered, fed and sheltered 511 residents (231 women of all races and religions and 280 young children aged newborn to 20-years old), and counselled 581 outside clients.  Currently, IRFSA shelters 14 women and 27 young children.
